Hence vital info about Danganronpa figures might not be in abundance. For example, what makes the Kirigiri Kyouko & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company special? Why is it better than the one by Freeing or Flare?

The answers to these questions and more won’t come as quickly as when you’re asking about figures from Attack on Titan. For this reason, I’ll be talking about the crucial aspects of the items in this guide. Keep scrolling to know which Danganronpa figures are the best and why.

Furyu Best Danganronpa Figures Guide

Bottom Line Up Front

Except for the two Nendoroids on the list, none of the figures in this guide have any articulation. But that shouldn’t be a deal-breaker, even for those who prefer moveable or poseable figures.

It’s because they more than compensate for their lack of mobility with their refreshing design and superb quality. I’ve seen countless anime and game-based figures, and these Danganronpa figures are certified top-tier.

If you’re into Danganronpa’s distinct style, I recommend Kirigiri Kyouko & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company, Celestia Ludenberck 1/7 by Myethos & Emontoys, Nanami Chiaki & Monomi 1/8 by Phat! Company, Enoshima Junko & Monokuma Chou Koukoukyu no Figure by Algernon Product, and Akamatsu Kaede & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company.

Their visuals are 10/10 and thoroughly embody the aesthetics of the franchise. However, if you want the representations of the core characters of the games, your targets should be the protagonists.

These are Naegi Makoto Chou Koukoukyu no Figure by Algernon Product for Danganronpa 1, Hinata Hajime ARTFX J 1/8 By Kotobukiya for Danganronpa 2, and Akamatsu Kaede & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company for Danganronpa V3.

Top Danganronpa Figures at a Glance

Contrary to its dark and mature themes, Danganronpa has such a colorful and cutesy style. The peculiar element of being cute but deadly sets it apart from regular games and makes it endearing and unique.

Fortunately, many toy manufacturers highlighted Danganronpa’s assets and faithfully produced figures that stayed true to the characters’ appearances and defining traits.

Here are the best Danganronpa figures:

  1. Kirigiri Kyouko & Monokuma 1/8 by Phat! Company
  2. Celestia Ludenberck 1/7 by Myethos & Emontoys
  3. Naegi Makoto Chou Koukoukyu no Figure (#03) by Algernon Product
  4. Nanami Chiaki & Monomi 1/8 by Phat! Company
  5. Enoshima Junko & Monokuma Chou Koukoukyu no Figure (#01) by Algernon Product
  6. Komaeda Nagito ARTFX J 1/8 By Kotobukiya
  7. Hinata Hajime ARTFX J 1/8 By Kotobukiya
  8. Monokuma Nendoroid by Good Smile Company
  9. Monomi Nendoroid by Good Smile Company
  10. Ouma Kokichi by Union Creative International Ltd
  11. Akamatsu Kaede & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company
  12. Saihara Shuuichi by Union Creative International Ltd

I’d also like to note that although many of these figures have been out since 2013, they still look incredible next to recent releases. That goes to show that they’re timeless pieces.

The Best Danganronpa Figures

Kirigiri Kyouko & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company

Kirigiri Kyouko & Monokuma

The steel-faced ‘ice queen’ of the game, Kyouko, is wonderfully immortalized in this ironically captivating figure. I know it’s from a scary scene, but I still love everything about this. It’s understandable why it’s gotten multiple rereleases.

What’s more, if you get this, you’ll gain two characters from the game—the game’s heroine and the demented robotic headmaster of the series, Monokuma.

Release date: 1st release October 2014, 2nd release April 2017 & 3rd release November 2021

SRP: 95.74 – 145.99$

Rarity: Low to Moderate

Appears on: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa: The Animation, and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • This figure’s got a vibrant and comprehensive layout. It incorporates the classroom setting from Kyouko’s execution, the heroine, and the series’ mascot
  • The eye-catching base and accessories fully complement the overall design of the figure, even though it’s from a punishment scene
  • I can’t get enough of Kyoukou’s dynamic pose because it’s fierce and sexy
  • Every part of this figure has clean and precise details. Even the accessories, like the desk, chair, and cup noodles, have consistently good quality
  • This figure’s face is an accurate copy of Kyouko’s from the game and anime

Cons

  • There’s a chance of paint transfer to happen over time between the right hand and the desk
  • Connecting the figure to the peg on the desk may be hard to do for some stocks
  • The sculpt for the hair strands isn’t always smooth. Some stocks have rough or uneven molds

Celestia Ludenberck 1/7 by Myethos & Emontoys

Celestia Ludenberck

I’m not into the gothic lolita style, but this version of Celestia is an exception. It’s got the right balance of adorable and poise, so I couldn’t avoid being a victim of its beauty.

Aside from that, I’m also in awe of this figure because it’s from Myethos. This fact alone guarantees, at least for me, that this is a top-notch figure that will have little to no flaws.

Release date: April 2018

SRP: 149$

Rarity: High

Appears on: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa: The Animation, and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • The roulette wheel base is flawless and matches the figure to a tee. It highlights Celestia’s ‘Ultimate Gambler’ side
  • Nearly all stocks of this figure have impeccable paint and sculpt quality since it’s from Myethos. You won’t likely see any issues with this figure even in the long run
  • Every tiny detail of Celestia’s character design from the game has been meticulously replicated
  • The figure is easy to set up because it attaches to the pillar and base through magnets. This also means there won’t be any broken or misaligned pegs
  • You can rotate the base’s gold pillar to adjust the figure’s direction freely

Cons

  • The odds for this figure’s reproduction are extremely low. Myethos rarely, if at all, does a rerelease
  • Due to the figure’s scarcity and high quality, it’s only going to get more expensive with time

Naegi Makoto Chou Koukoukyu no Figure (#03) 1/8 by Algernon Product

Naegi Makoto Chou Koukoukyu no Figure

Being the primary lead of Danganronpa 1, Makoto‘s figure is an absolute necessity for those who think the world of the series’ initial game. After all, you can’t have a Danganronpa game without the hero.

Admittedly this version of him isn’t as elaborate or fancy as most of the items on the list. Still, it’s able to convey how Makoto is as a person.

Release date: 1st release October 2014 & 2nd release July 2016

SRP: 51.89$

Rarity: High

Appears on: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa: The Animation, and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • This figure can stand upright without the base. So you’ll have no problem placing it next to other Danganronpa figures
  • This version of Makoto is smaller than the typical 1/8 figure, yet it can still blend in with larger figures that are of a regular 1/7-1/8 scale size
  • Fans of the Danganronpa 1 game will be happy with this figure’s pose. It’s directly modeled after one of Makoto’s spites in the first game
  • As the sole premium figure of Makoto, this figure currently has the best quality amongst all the existing Makoto figures
  • I really like this figure’s face. Its expression sufficiently delivers Makoto’s strong emotions, and it’s close to how he looks in the game

Cons

  • I hate it when the seams are prominent in figures. Sadly, that’s the case with some stocks of this version of Makoto
  • The ‘ahoge’ or hair that sticks out on this figure’s head is wrong. It doesn’t have the same shape and thickness as Makoto’s ahoge in the game or in anime

Nanami Chiaki & Monomi – 1/8 by Phat! Company

Nanami Chiaki & Monomi

While Chiaki‘s not the main character of the Danganronpa sequel, the quirky ‘Ultimate Gamer’ trumps Hinata Hajime in popularity. In fact, Dengeki’s official poll revealed in 2021 that she’s the second most popular character in the series.

In light of this, it’s not surprising that she has this killer scale figure with Monomi. Just one look at this version of Chiaki should make it crystal clear to anyone why she’s on the best list.

Release date: 1st release April 2015, 2nd release May 2017 & 3rd release October 2021

SRP: 108.84 – 168.99$

Rarity: Low to Moderate

Appears on: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • This is a gorgeous piece and one of the most stylish and creative Danganronpa figures ever. A winner for me in color, design, and arrangement
  • This figure features three significant characters from Danganronpa: Chiaki, Monomi, and Monokuma
  • I’m impressed with the motif Phat! Company’s used for this figure. It includes the crucial visuals of Chiaki as a gamer and the danger of the Danganronpa series
  • This figure’s craftsmanship is first-rate. Even the TV, controllers, wires, and game console have realistic details
  • Using Monokuma as the base is a genius move and dramatically enhances the overall appeal of the figure

Cons

  • The pegs for the stands have inconsistent sizes. You’ll have to fix or maybe file them down if they can’t fit into the slots of the figure and accessories
  • The position of the accessories might be too close to the figure for some stocks when connected to the stands

Enoshima Junko & Monokuma Chou Koukoukyu no Figure (#01) by Algernon Product

Enoshima Junko & Monokuma Chou Koukoukyu no Figure

Junko, the ‘Ultimate Fashionista,’ is the two-faced villain of Danganronpa’s first two video games. Regardless of her evil ways, though, admirers of the franchise have been bewitched by her, myself included.

True to her role, this Junko figure has a confident and devious vibe like in the games and anime.

Release date: December 2013

SRP: 97.99$

Rarity: Moderate

Appears on: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa: The Animation, and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • The figure’s sculpt is generally smooth and neat. I specifically like the shape of the legs because the curves along the knees make them appear lifelike
  • The pose is perfect for Junko as it completely fits her character. It also accentuates her long legs and background as a model
  • The paint job of this figure is good. All the small details, like the buttons, and badges on Junko’s outfit, have neat and precise paint jobs
  • Junko and Monokuma having the same pose is a simple yet spot-on symbolism for the former’s ‘Monokuma personality’
  • I’m fussy when it comes to the skin tone of figures, and this version of Junko definitely passes my standards

Cons

  • The length of this figure’s hair is shorter than what’s shown in the games and anime
  • There hasn’t been a rerelease for this figure, meaning any stock you buy will be the 2013 release. So the Junko and Monokuma pieces have a high chance of being sticky

Komaeda Nagito ARTFX J 1/8 by Kotobukiya

Komaeda Nagito ARTFX J

The cheerful and seemingly upbeat Nagito is one of the major supporting characters in Danganronpa 2 and is considered Hajime’s steadfast ally.

But for Japanese fans, he’s actually better than the lead. His handsome looks and warped mind make him the top boy of the franchise as he’s in first place on Danganronpa’s 10th Anniversary popularity poll.

Release date: 1st release December 2015, 2nd release December 2016, 3rd release February 2019 & 4th release April 2021

SRP: 72.07 – 99.99$

Rarity: Low to Moderate

Appears on: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • This Nagito figure can be displayed with two expressions. You can get the Kotobukiya exclusive edition that includes the two heads or buy the bonus head separately for the standard edition
  • Kotobukiya has a good track record for this figure. So any stock you buy will have little to no factory defects or blemishes
  • I think the base is fantastic and fitting since it seems related to the pixels or cubes that appear in the latter part of Danganronpa 2
  • There aren’t any gaps in between the seams of this figure, giving it a polished look
  • The entire figure looks fantastic. It looks almost identical to the official character illustration by Komatsuzaki Rui that it’s based on

Cons

  • The latest rerelease has an unnecessary black line that outlines the figure’s mouth that the older versions don’t have
  • You’ll have to pay more than the regular price if you want to have the bonus head

Hinata Hajime ARTFX J 1/8 by Kotobukiya

Hinata Hajime ARTFX J

As is the norm with ‘heroes,’ Hajime strongly manifests morally upright values. But in contrast to the protagonist of the first game, he isn’t afraid to speak his mind bluntly and be aggressive when the need arises.

If you’re amongst the thousands of people who favor Danganronpa 2 more than the other installments in the series, getting this premier Hajime figure should be a given.

Release date: 1st release September 2014, 2nd release November 2016, 3rd release February 2019 & 4th release April 2021

SRP: 72.07 – 99.99$

Rarity: Low

Appears on: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • Besides being the only high-end scale figure of Hajime, this is also the best-looking one on the whole
  • Kotobukiya stayed loyal to the source material as this figure has all the correct physical features of Hajime from the game’s official artwork
  • All of the figure’s details are molded and cleanly crafted. Even the belly button has some depth and isn’t just painted on
  • Similar to the Komaeda Nagito ARTFX J figure, this version of Hajime can be equipped with two different heads
  • The figure’s pose is close to the one Nagito’s sprite makes in the game whenever he’s making a statement

Cons

  • The color of this figure’s hair should’ve been either a medium or dark shade of brown instead of being purely black
  • The pegs that connect the base to the figure for some stocks might be a tight fit. You may have trouble separating the two and possibly remove the shoe

Monokuma Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

Monokuma Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

Ever wanted the epitome of chaos and brutality from the Danganronpa universe? Then you’re right on the money with Monokuma since he initiates the killing games in the series.

On top of that, this is one of the few moveable Danganronpa figures, so you can pose him in any way you want. Monokuma will look terrific whether you display him solo or with the other characters.

Release date: 1st release July 2013 & 2nd release November 2013

SRP: 29.99$

Rarity: High

Appears on: Every single Danganronpa game and anime

Pros

  • This version of Monokuma is more or less the ideal size when you want a companion piece for the other 1/6 – 1/8 sized Danganronpa scale figures
  • You can recreate the exact scenes from the games or anime where Monokuma kills people since this figure comes with a gavel and the red punishment button
  • I like that the button part of the punishment button accessory can be moved up and down. This means you can remake the before and after scenes of the executions
  • This is the only completely poseable figure of Monokuma
  • Despite being an old release, its sculpt and paint quality don’t disappoint

Cons

  • There’s a good chance that you’ll purchase a sticky figure since both releases of this Nendoroid are already 9 years old
  • The figure’s arm pins or pegs are fragile and prone to being left inside the arm slots

Monomi Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

Monomi Nendoroid by Good Smile Company

Originally called Usami, Monomi is the polar opposite of the series’ evil black and white bear mascot. And unlike Monukuma, her goal was to help and protect the students in Danganronpa 2.

But more than her kindness, her sweet and cute appearance makes her a massive hit with fans. I wanted to buy her the moment I saw her even though I hadn’t played the game then. This is probably the cutest figure on this list that’s almost impossible to resist.

Release date: September 2013

SRP: 29.99$

Rarity: Moderate

Appears on: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School

Pros

  • You can reenact many of Monomi’s moments in the game and anime because this figure comes with two of her most used expressions
  • Just like the Monokuma Nendoroid, this is the only Monomi figure that can change poses
  • Monomi is considered the principal mascot of the sequel. Therefore you’ve got to have this figure in your collection if you’re a solid Danganronpa 2 enthusiast
  • This is one of the few full-body toy figures of Monomi that has the appropriate body proportions
  • Good Smile Company got every detail about Monomi down, such as the sculpt, color, and design

Cons

  • Due to its age, some parts of this Nendoroid’s arm peg may break off when changing body parts
  • It’ll be tough to get replacements if any part of this figure gets broken

Akamatsu Kaede & Monokuma 1/7 by Phat! Company

Akamatsu Kaede & Monokuma

The socially inept but good-natured Kaede is the first female protagonist of the series. As such, she undeniably should be a part of any Danganronpa figure collection.

In addition, Phat! Company just keeps on making the best Danganronpa figures, don’t they? So, it can be expected that this figure of the ‘Ultimate Pianist’ will get the fabulous treatment it rightly deserves.

Release date: October 2023

SRP: 243.99$

Rarity: Low

Appears on: Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Pros

  • The figure’s design is taken from a pivotal moment in the game. It’s the non-deadly version of Kaede’s punishment scene
  • The scattered pages of sheet music floating around the figure look stunning and add an angelic vibe
  • Every part of this figure is connected seamlessly to each other. The sheet music pages, in particular, appear like they’re genuinely falling on their own
  • Phat! Company did an excellent job of bringing Kaede’s 2D body to life. The sexiness and attractiveness of this figure feel just right
  • This figure’s intricate piano base is on the same first-class level as Celestia’s roulette wheel base

Cons

  • The bottom part of the ahoge that’s attached to the figure’s head seems to somewhat have a rough sculpt
  • The pages of sheet music are the thinnest part of this figure. So you must handle them carefully since they might get damaged easily

Saihara Shuuichi by Union Creative International Ltd

Saihara Shuuichi by Union Creative International Ltd

Compared to the other male characters, Shuuichi is the gloomiest-looking boy of the bunch. He’s also weakhearted to boot. This is why it was shocking to discover later in Danganronpa V3 that he was the true protagonist.

With that said, it should be apparent that this lone prepainted figure of Shuuichi can’t be neglected. I mean, if you can’t get all the characters, you at least need to have the leads, right?

Release date: 1st release January 2020 & 2nd release January 2022

SRP: 94.99$

Rarity: Low

Appears on: Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Pros

  • I’m glad that Union Creative stuck with Shuuichi’s original hair color from his official character illustration, even if it just looks dark gray from the game sprite
  • This figure doesn’t have a base. It can also be displayed on any even surface due to its kneeling position
  • The design of this figure is rather plain, but the mold is clean
  • Since this is a primarily black figure, the creases and folds stand out. From what I’ve seen, the sculpt of the details is neat and natural-looking
  • Even up close, the paintwork on the lining, buttons, and collar of this figure is clean and precise

Cons

  • I hate that this figure has visible seams. It even has a gap in between the shoulders
  • This figure should’ve been much larger than the Ouma Kokichi figure by Union Creative since Shuuichi is 5’7, and Kokichi is only 5’1

Ouma Kokichi by Union Creative International Ltd

Ouma Kokichi by Union Creative International Ltd

Danganronpa V3’s self-professed ‘Ultimate Evil Supreme Leader’ Kokichi proves that people are suckers for flashy weirdos. Because regardless of his skewed mindset, fans are over the moon for him and made him the third most popular character in all three games.

But after analyzing him, I finally got his appeal. Not to mention, this figure plays up his boyish charms to the fullest. Who could hold out against this pathological liar’s cuteness?

Release date: 1st release January 2020 & 2nd release January 2022

SRP: 69.86 – 96.99$

Rarity: Low

Appears on: Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Pros

  • This figure emphasizes Kokichi’s two appealing sides: cute and quirky. It looks cutesy, and its posture shows off his awkwardness in a complementary manner
  • I like that this figure has a beautiful face. Plus, the lips have actual indentations, which add some depth to Kokichi’s expression
  • The figure’s pose appears natural and is in character with Kokichi’s attitude in the game
  • The violet sheen and lowlights on this figure’s hair are perfect. I give Union Creative two thumbs up for this because they got Kokichi’s hair exactly how it looks in the game and official illustrations
  • I’m normally unsatisfied with Union Creative’s size for their figures. But since Kokichi is 5’1, the small size of this figure suits him, even when mixed with 1/6 – 1/8 scale figures

Cons

  • The ripped or torn hems of this figure’s clothes should’ve been better molded as it’s a staple piece of Kokichi’s ‘crazy’ get-up.
  • This figure has a 50/50 chance of paint errors on the scarf, which may be too evident in some stocks

Conclusion

Over the years I spent collecting anime and game figures, something eventually became apparent. It’s that not all figures will have the same high quality. Even Danganronpa figures from well-established manufacturers also have a slip-up in quality now and then.

Yet that doesn’t automatically brand a figure terrible, per se. It simply means that certain issues might not be as acceptable to some collectors. For instance, my pet peeve with figures is noticeable paint flaws, like excess paint or splotches. I can’t stand them and don’t buy pieces that have messy paintwork.

For some folks, paint issues are acceptable as long as they’re not on the face or front side of the figure. Then again, collectors like that may also have an aversion to a specific flaw that wouldn’t make me think twice about buying a figure. It’s all about preferences, all in all.

So with that concern in mind, I probed every inch of the available Danganronpa figures and considered other collectors’ assessments. This way, I was able to offer you the positive and negative angles of the best Danganronpa figures.

And now that you know them, you should be informed enough to decide which ones you won’t regret getting. For me, every piece I discussed is a good buy, especially those made by Phat! Company and Myethos. If you can’t get them all, though, at least those should be on your to-buy list.

Top Q&A

Question: Are There Unlicensed Danganronpa Figures?

Answer: Yes. According to MyFigureCollection, a reliable site about figures based on anime, video games, and manga series, around half of the Danganronpa scale figures have counterfeits going around.
But considering how widespread fake figures are right now, it would be wise to assume that all the Danganronpa figures have unlicensed copies.
To avoid being a victim to fakes, only purchase from highly reputable stores or sellers to ensure that the products are always authentic.

Question: What Order Should I Play or Watch The Danganronpa Titles?

Answer: The first game that you should play is Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc which came out worldwide in 2014 for the Playstation Vita. The second is Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, which also became available in the same year and on the same gaming platform. The third one is Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, which was released in 2017 for the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita.
For the watching order of the anime, you should start with Danganronpa: The Animation, the adaptation of the first game. Its sequel is Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School, which isn’t an adaptation of any game and serves as the ending to the protagonists’ storylines in the first and second Danganronpa games.

Question: What’s The Difference Between The Danganronpa Video Games And Anime?

Answer: The Danganronpa 1 and 2 video games are part of the same storyline. As a result, the sequel has many recurring characters from the original game. Meanwhile, Danganronpa V3 has a similar setting to the first two games but features a new set of characters in a different universe.
On the other hand, the anime TV series only focuses on the story and characters of the first and second Danganronpa games.
