Best My Hero Academia Funko Pop Guide

My Hero Academia has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. It’s not the usual kind of anime I watch, not the kind of thing I usually buy merch for, but the series does have a great selection.

Specifically, in the kind of Funkop Pops! you can buy! There are tons of various characters from the series and many unique Funko Pops! that are nice things to have for mega-fans of My Hero Academia.

I’m ranking each of the Funko Pops! on three basic criteria that help determine who they’re for.

  • Quality – By “Quality,” I mean how good does the Funko Pop! look? Is it an accurate representation of the character? Does it glow in the dark or have any other special features? This is an important factor in deciding which kind of Funko Pop! you want to buy because despite being of the same brand, not all of them meet the same standards.
  • Availability – What I mean by “Availability” is how easy is it to buy the Funko Pop! in question? Has it been short printed, is it in hot demand? Is it exclusive limited to certain retailers, or could you just buy it off Amazon? This also factors in the price of the Funko Pop! It doesn’t matter how cool a statue or figure would look on your shelf if you can’t get it there.
  • Serialization – “Serialization” refers to if the Funko Pop! is part of a set or series. I mean, this outside of the specific franchise the Funko Pop! is based on, are there any other Funko Pops! based on this fantasy-telling of the characters. Being able to have a consistent theme with your Funko Pops! as you set them up makes them look really cool.

Now let’s start the guide!

First Point Upfront

To make a long article short, the best My Hero Academia is probably the Pop Animation My Hero Academia Todoroki Glow In The Dark Funko Pop Vinyl Figure. The real value of this Funko Pop! can’t be understated.

It doesn’t have a super unique look like other Funko Pops! which will make it look bad when set against other Funko Pops!, yet it looks good enough to stand on its own if all you want is a single Funko Pop!

It even has something special in that the Funko Pop! glows in the dark. You can even form a collection of glow-in-the-dark My Hero Academia Funko Pops! if you want to, and this Funko Pop! is a good place to start.

FunKo POP! My Hero Academia Deku GITD Figure

FunKo POP! My Hero Academia Deku GITD Figure

This one is a classic in the My Hero Academia Funko Pop! line. It’s a modern Deku using One-For-All: Full Cowl, and it looks pretty good, too! Even better, the lightning effects surrounding the Funko Pop! and marks across Deku glow in the dark, making the figure really stand out!

Quality 9/10

This figure is fantastic! Funko Pops sometimes have issues with accurately recreating their source material due to their unique style, but that doesn’t show on this one.

It’s identifiably Deku, and the extra effects on the figure like the lightning and marks really sell the Funko Pop! The fact that it glows in the dark means it looks insanely good on just about every shelf, though you do need it to soak up some light before it glows.

Availability 7/10

The Funko Pop! does lose some points from me due to it being a victim of retailer exclusivity. This Funko Pop! is only available through Entertainment Earth, which doesn’t have a physical location.

You’ll either have to go to Entertainment Earth directly or purchase it through Amazon. The price on the Funko Pop! isn’t too bad. It’s on the higher end for a single character figure, but that’s to be expected.

Serialization 6/10

While this Funko Pop! isn’t a part of any specific sub-series of the My Hero Academia line, the franchise does have a number of glow-in-the-dark Funko Pop! which makes forming a collection of them rather easy. There are also a number of other Deku Funko Pop! so you could form a collection of those specifically.

Pros

  • One of the more iconic Deku-looks
  • Glows in the dark, which is pretty neat

Cons

  • Very uninteresting pose of Deku just standing there

Funko Pop My Hero Academia All Might Metallic

Funko Pop My Hero Academia All Might Metallic

This is another good one. It features one of the most iconic characters from the series ‘All-Might’ in a dynamic pose, but there are two really cool things about this one.

The first is that it shows the ‘Silver-Age’ look for the hero, which is hard to come by in figures, but also that it has this nice metallic sheen to it, which makes it stand out among other Funko Pops!

Quality 10/10

This Funko Pop! looks utterly amazing! I know Funko Pops! sometimes have trouble recreating who they’re supposed to be, but this isn’t just a good recreation. It’s one of the better figures ‘Silver-Age’ All-Might has.

Availability 7/10

Despite the Funko Pops! good looks. It’s surprisingly findable for a Funko Pop! of this quality. The only problem comes with the price tag, which is worth it, in my opinion.

Serialization 6/10

The biggest problem with this Funko Pop! is that it’s pretty unique. It’s not only a unique version of All-Might, but the metallic look makes it stand out from other Funko Pops! making it hard to get a nice set going.

Pros

  • It uses Silver-Age All Might, which isn’t too common for merch.
  • Has a unique look to it.

Cons

  • The unique visual style makes it stand out in a collection.

Funko My Hero Academia Pop! Animation Katsuki Bakugo Vinyl Figure Exclusive

I know Bakugo is a massive fan favorite, so I’d be remiss not to include him in one of my entries. This Funko Pop! is pretty standard as far as they go. It’s not reflective, nor does it glow in the dark.

It doesn’t look like it was made of silver-chrome metal or glitter. The most it has is a neat pose, and that’s what makes it good. It’s a My Hero Academia Funko Pop! and that’s all it needs to be.

Quality 8/10

While there isn’t anything special about the Funko Pop! I do like the pose they have Bakugo doing. It’s definitely better than the other one, which only has Bakugo standing. I like how it shows him using his Quirk to make it more emblematic of the source material, which is a lot of other Funko Pops! struggle with.

Availability 7/10

The Funko Pop! itself is pretty popular, so it shouldn’t be hard to find, nor is it exclusive to any retailer. The real problem comes with the price tag, which is pretty high, all things considered. It’s not overwhelming by any means, but it is definitely enough for me to ask if I really want it.

Serialization 9/10

This Funko Pop! has the benefit of being a part of Funko’s general line of My Hero Academi Funko Pops! That means there are a lot of Funko Pops! to go along with it. You can get a Kirishima or Tokoyami that goes really well with Bakugo since all of the Funko Pops! have them using their quirk.

Pros

  • Bakugo is in his hero outfit.
  • The figure has Bakugo doing an action pose rather than just standing there.

Cons

  • Kind of expensive as far as Funko Pops! go.

Funko Pop! Town: My Hero Academia – U.A. High School with Deku in Uniform, Multicolor

My Hero Academia - U.A. High School with Deku in Uniform, Multicolor

This one is pretty rare as far as Funko Pops! go because it’s not often they come with a location rather than a character. That’s what I really like about this one. The location is also an iconic one for the series, being U.A Academy. The fact that it comes with a nice Deku figure wraps up the set in a nice little bow.

Quality 7/10

While there is nothing wrong with the quality of the set, there isn’t anything that makes them super stand out.  The figures don’t glow in the dark or shine or anything like that.

Even the Bakugo figure at least did a nice pose, while Deku in this one is literally just standing there. The U.A High School is the biggest selling point of the set, and yet even that doesn’t have anything special about it other than it being a building, which is unusual for Funko Pops!

Availability 7/10

The figure is far from hard to find. It’s easy to find in stores, and Amazon isn’t running low on copies. The real problem is the price. It’s the most expensive Funko Pop! on this list, and that’s saying a lot when it includes a limited-time exclusive.

You’ll definitely want to check to make sure this is what you want when you can buy a highly detailed statue or figure for the same price.

Serialization 10/10

What this Funko Pop! Really has going for it is that it comes with U.A High School. It makes a nice centerpiece or background piece to put in the background of your My Hero Academia collection. It works great for photo shoots of having multiple Funko Pops! together, but that is a bit of a niche usage for the set.

Pros

  • Comes with a Deku figure but also a figurine of U.A High School
  • The U.A High School figurine is relatively large.

Cons

  • This Funko Pop! Town is expensive compared to other options.

Funko Pop! 2019 NYCC Exclusive All Might (Silver-Chrome) My Hero Academia

2019 NYCC Exclusive All Might (Silver-Chrome) My Hero Academia

What makes this Funko Pop! stand out should be pretty clear at first glance. Namely, the reflective silvery color the entire figure has. It’s a strange look that has to do with being an exclusive Funko Pop! from 2019’s New York Comic-Con. That exclusivity makes it a pretty nice thing to have for bragging rights, but it also stands out on your shelf.

Quality 8/10

The Funko Pop! does look nice… to an extent. While yes, the Funko Pop! does a decent enough job of portraying All-Might. It’s also a reflective chrome does mean it doesn’t have any of the usual colorized details that make other Funko Pops! work.

Nor is the pose All-Might doing that interesting. It’s not All-Might using Carolina or Detroit Smash. He’s just posing with his hand on his hips. While it is iconic, the pose is boring.

Availability 8/10

I haven’t seen this Funko Pop! on any store shelves, yet despite it being limited to NY’s 2019 comic-con, they are quite prevalent on the internet. Most online retailers, Amazon included, have the Funko Pops! brand new and boxed for sale. I guess Funko just printed more Funko Pops! than they could sell.

Serialization 5/10

The biggest issue with this Funko Pop! is also its coolest feature. It’s a silver-chrome color which makes it really cool and unique, but it also means it stands out from any collection, clashing horribly with all of your regular colored Funko Pops!.

If you want to set it alone on your desk or something, it looks fine, but in my personal opinion, it looks tacky when put with the rest.

Pros

  • A unique look for an All-Might Funko Pop!

Cons

  • Stands out when put with a collection of other Funko Pops!

Pop Animation My Hero Academia Todoroki Glow In The Dark Funko Pop Vinyl Figure

My Hero Academia Todoroki Glow In The Dark Funko Pop Vinyl Figure

Todoroki is one of the most popular characters from My Hero Academia. Right up there with the protagonist Deku, and his rival Bakugo, so it only stands to reason that Todoroki would get special treatment when he got his Funko Pop! # This particular Funko Pop! is another one that glows in the dark, making it a fantastic addition to your collection.

Quality 9/10

This Funko Pop! looks positively amazing! It has Todoroki using a nice pose, and it also has the fire and ice effects to spice up the look and makes it look more dynamic.

It’s specifically from the moment during the sports festival when Todorki’s fighting Deku.  I don’t know what more I can say. Todorki’s cool; His Funko Pop! is also cool. I love them both.

Availability 9/10

This one is readily available at most retailers. You’ll likely be able to find it on most retailers’ shelves, and it is readily available from online marketplaces like Amazon and Popinabox. The price tag isn’t half bad either. You’ll find more expensive options on this very list. If you like Todorki and want a Funko Pop! this is a must-have.

Serialization 8/10

While the glow-in-the-dark line of My Hero Academia toys isn’t very extensive, it does exist. This means you can have an entire glowing set, which is an idea I’m going to write down because that sounds like an awesome display. Other than that, it remains generically My Hero Academia, so it can fit in with most of My Hero Academia Funko Pops! you have.

Pros

  • A very detailed Funko Pop! that comes with fire and ice effects.
  • This Funko Pop! glows in the dark.

Cons

  • This Funko Pop! can get kind of expensive.

Funko Pop! Animation: My Hero Academia – Endeavor (Glow in The Dark), Amazon Exclusive

My Hero Academia - Endeavor (Glow in The Dark), Amazon Exclusive

I know this is like, the third glow-in-the-dark Funko Pop! on my list, but glow-in-the-dark things are cool, okay? Endeavor may be controversial as a character, but you can’t that the dude looks nice, and this Funko Pop! brings out the most of it.

There are few better matches for a glow-in-the-dark figure than a character with a beard made of fire. The abundance of fire for the glow effects is one of the reasons I like this Funko Pop! so much.

Quality 10/10

Aside from the fact that I really like Endeavor, Funko went above and beyond this figure. It has a nice dynamic pose and very detailed articulation on the body, more than most of their other products, which I can’t help but love. Outside of that, the Funko Pop! glows in the dark, making it look super cool in a dark room.

Availability 8/10

This Funko Pop! isn’t hard to find. Like most others, it can be bought in stores or online from any toy retailer, but you have the best odds of finding it on Amazon. What I really like about this Funko Pop!, is the price.

It’s surprisingly cheap, not just for a glow-in-the-dark Funko Pop!, but for a Funko Pop! in general. It’s a surprisingly good budget option.

Serialization 9/10

As with the other glow-in-the-dark Funko Pops! you could buy them all and form a collection of glowing My Hero Academia Funko Pops! to light your shelves. Even if you don’t, Endeavor looks good when mixed amongst the other Funko Pops! in the My Hero Academia collection.

Pros

  • This Funko Pop! has lots of glow-in-the-dark pieces.
  • It’s not very expensive compared to others.

Cons

  • Endeavor’s a pretty divisive character, so some people probably don’t want him as a gift.

Funko Pop! Animation: My Hero Academia – Yuga Aoyama, Amazon Exclusive, Diamond Glitter

My Hero Academia - Yuga Aoyama, Amazon Exclusive, Diamond Glitter

Okay, so judging from my love for glow-in-the-dark Funko Pops! I may have a slight absolute obsession with things that glitter and glow, but can you really blame me for including this one? It’s an Aoyama figure that’s been carefully dusted, so his uniform and mask glitter.

I don’t even really like Aoyama that much, but you gotta admit, this is the perfect Funko Pop! for the dude whose hero name is The Shining Hero: Can’t Stop Twinkling.

Quality 10/10

I repeat myself, I am a sucker for shiny things. That aside, I do genuinely like this Funko Pop! for what it does. While it’s not an action pose, Aoyama isn’t just standing there. He’s holding his cape and winking, a gesture that adds personality to the piece which wouldn’t be there if he were just standing. Also, it glitters, and I like that.

Availability 7/10

This figure certainly loses a number of points from me because the only place I was able to easily find it was Amazon. While Amazon is nice and universal, it is still a single storefront. What earns the Funko Pop! enough points to get a rating of 7 is its price tag. It’s even cheaper than the Endeavor Funko Pop! which is saying a lot!

Serialization 6/10

The Diamond Glitter line of Funko Pops! is incredibly vast. It covers a lot of series, from anime to animated movies, but Aoyama appears to be the only character from My Hero Academia that got one, as of yet. That means the Funko Pop! is only going to stand out amongst any collection, be the collection My Hero Academia or even other Diamond Glitter Funko Pops!

Pros

  • The Funko Pop! glitters.

Cons

  • The pose is a bit basic and boring.
  • The glitter makes the Funko Pop! stand out in a collection.

Funko POP Pop! Animation: My Hero Academia – Infinite Deku with Eri Glow in The Dark Exclusive

My Hero Academia - Infinite Deku with Eri Glow in The Dark Exclusive

This Funko Pop! is one of my favorites because it’s based on such an iconic moment from the series. It was really nice to see Deku use the full power of One-For-All against a fused Chisaki, but knowing he was fighting for Eri’s safety added a nice heartwarming touch to the violent confrontation.

I was as stoked as anyone when I learned Funko was making a Funko Pop! of that specific moment. When I heard it was also glow-in-the-dark, I’m pretty sure I transcended to heaven.

Quality 10/10

This is a superb Funko Pop! to add to your collection! It’s got nice detailing which is aided by the after-effects used to show Eri and One-For-All’s power spilling forth. The fact that it glows in the dark sells the feeling and gravitas, even more when you literally see the Funko Pop! glowing in the dark.

Availability 7/10

Readily available from most retailers, including Funko’s own website, but you can also find it on other websites like Amazon. I’m not sure about how it is in-stores, so you’ll have to check in person. The price of this Funko Pop! varies since it’s in rather high demand. You can find it for a good price, or a bad one. It really depends on your timing.

Serialization 8/10

Like all of the other glow-in-the-dark Funko Pops! from the My Hero Academia line, the fact that there are so many really is this one’s saving grace. It will fit right in as the centerpiece of an all-glowing collection and looks absolutely fantastic when put with its non-glowing My Hero Academia counterparts.

Pros

  • Based on one of the most iconic moments from the series.
  • Comes with a tiny Eri attached to Deku

Cons

  • This one is fairly expensive, even when compared to other options.

Funko Pop! My Hero Academia #1009 – Eijiro Unbreakable [Metallic] Limited Edition

My Hero Academia #1009 - Eijiro Unbreakable [Metallic] Limited Edition

It took a hot minute, but we finally got our first Kirishima Funko Pop! on our list! This one is taken from the moment during the end of the arc where the students of 1A were fighting the Yakuza Kai Chisaki.

This one, in particular, is from my favorite moment from Kirishima uses his new move Red Riot: Unbreakable, against one of Chisaki’s underlings. This Funko Pop! is a pretty good recreation of his look, and the special metallic look of the Funko Pop! even leans into it!

Quality 9/10

This Funko Pop! does a reasonably good job of recreating the source material. Yeah, it looks kinda weird to an outsider, but that’s honestly what the character looked like. It’s also the best Kirishima figure you can get since the other one doesn’t have him using his Quirk.

He’s just standing there. The fact that it has a metallic sheen to it really sells how this is Kirishima using his Quirk to harden his body beyond steel-like limits, so I really like that.

Availability 9/10

This has the standard availability of most Funko Pops! with you being able to find them in-store and online, with places like Amazon being your best bet. Of course, its price tag really bumps up its rating.

It’s surprisingly cheap as far as Funko Pops! go on Amazon, so it’s a great choice if you’re a Kirishima-stan looking for a cheap piece of merch to show your love.

Serialization 8/10

Like most other My Hero Academia Funko Pops! this one fits right in with the rest of the characters in your collection. However, there is also the benefit of the small line of metallic My Hero Academia Funko Pops! for you to collect. If you have the will and the money, you could make a collection out of just the metallic ones.

Pros

  • The Funko Pop! has good posing and shows Kirishima actually using his quirk.
  • References one of the more iconic moments of the more recent seasons.

Cons

  • The metallic texturing makes the Funko Pop! stand out in a collection.

Funko Pop My Hero Academia Aizawa in Sleeping Bag

My Hero Academia Aizawa in Sleeping Bag

This is, unironically, the best Aizawa/Eraserhead Funko Pop! you can find. The other one is pretty basic. It just shows him holding his scarf with and without the mask, but this one has a bit more personality than that.

It’s Aizawa in his sleeping bag, a reference to the first time we’ve met him way back in the early days of My Hero Academia! It’s a heartwarming throwback that I think every fan will love!

Quality 7/10

This isn’t a bad Funko Pop! by any means. It’s got nice texturing, and it isn’t every day we get a Funko Pop! that isn’t someone standing up.

I like the depth conveyed by having Aizawa’s hair poking out through the top of the sleeping bag, but at the same time, that’s all it is. There’s no glow-in-the-dark or metallic sheen to anything. It’s just a regular Funko Pop! of Aizawa in a sleeping bag.

Availability 7/10

This falls into the same availability as most of the other Funko Pops! on our list. Most retailers should have it in-store and online, but yeesh! The price for this Funko Pop! is not a good look.

I honestly don’t think it’s worth buying off Amazon if you aren’t willing to spend a pretty penny on such a simple figure. It’s not the most expensive on our list, but it’s certainly not the cheapest.

Serialization 7/10

Once more, this Funko Pop! has average serialization. It fits in with most of the other MY Hero Academia Funko Pops! but it may look a little weird since this one is sitting down. You couldn’t really form a collection of Aizawa Funko Pops! either because there are not that many different Funko Pops! to buy.

Pros

  • Better than the other Aizawa Funko Pops! which have him just standing there.
  • It’s funny to see Aizawa chilling in his sleeping bag.

Cons

  • It really stands out when put next to other Funko Pops!

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions: Where is the Best Place to Buy Funko Pops?

Answer: The best place to find Funko Pops! is, frankly, Amazon. They have a wide selection and their Funko Pops! are reliably in stock. If you want to buy them in person from a brick-and-mortar store, then places like Walmart tend to have a good selection, although I can’t promise you’ll find what you want.
The lowest prices for a Funko Pop will usually come from Funko’s own digital storefront. A good rule in mind for thrifty shoppers is that it’s usually cheaper to buy from the manufacturer if you can.

Question: What Makes a Funko Pop! Good?

Answer: What makes a Funko Pop good has much to do with its design. You’ll want to ask if the pose looks nice, has anything special about it, and how good it will look standalone or as a collection. Outside of those things, I’d always say if you think a Funko Pop! looks nice and you have the money to spare, why not buy it?

Conclusion

My Hero Academia has become one of the most popular modern anime for a reason. It’s filled with heart, charm, and characters everyone loves. A Funko Pop! is a great way to memorialize that love. Good luck when looking for Funko Pops!, and happy hunting!
